Congratulations to Heza Awesome Dancer (Danny) owned by SLADS member Donna Gottman and trained by SLADS member Marketa Matthews. Danny received the AQHA National Champion quarter horse at 4th Level and he will be honored by the AQHA in a ceremony in New Orleans March 8th.
Danny also received the MHSA 3rd and high percentage for 2013 and SLADS 3rd for 2013. Way to go for an awesome 2013 season. Best of luck in 2014.
We have a new Junior Member!
Please welcome Miss Darby Grace Eime, 11 years old.
"My parents and I own 3 Haflingers, one 27 year old American Quarter Horse, and 1 Appaloosa/Quarter Horse cross. My father, John, showed Quarter Horses at halter in the 1970's and 1980's. My mother, Diane, has had horses in her life since she was a child.
This past summer I became interested in showing my 9 year old Haflinger mare, Micah, in dressage. My mother had been slowly training her and turned her training over to me. I started her over jumps and she will jump 18 inches cleanly. But that was just to give her a break from the dressage work we were doing.
In September my neighbor, Eleanor, also a SLADS member, told me about a schooling show in November. I made that show my immediate goal and set about getting Micah ready. This would be Micah's second time away from home, her first horse show and my first horse show. We did well and I am continuing her dressage and jumping training.
I am glad to become a member of SLADS and look forward to learning more about dressage and making many new friends."
THE UPS STORE 2188
Wallstreet Whisper (aka Willow), is owned and shown by
SLADS member Sarah Bonansinga and trained by Debbie
Hubbard of Lake St. Louis Stables. Willow’s riding career
previously consisted of Eventing, successfully showing at 1*
when Sarah purchased her in March of 2012. Willow was just
starting her training for 4th Level and Prix St. Georges and
demonstrated tremendous aptitude. In 2013, Willow was
awarded the Silver Stirrups National Reserve Grand
Champion Award at Third Level for the Adult Amateur
Division, the Third Level Silver Stirrups Zone Champion,
and 6th Place at the Region 4 Regional Championships
at Third Level for the Adult Amateur Division. Ridden
under Debbie Hubbard, Willow also won the Prix St.
Georges Silver Stirrups Zone Champion, being shown
at Prix St. Georges only twice, to-
2014 will be an exciting competition year as Sarah and Willow strive to improve their training. Also, look for Willow’s foals, via embryo transplantation in the coming years!
