Every SLADS member should spend at least one term on the board. Why? Because everyone needs to take bigger role for our organization to flourish. Board members are elected every two years to keep the board fresh and bring in new ideas and enthusiasm. Why isn't dressage bigger in our area? Why does the USDF not consider having large clinics or qualifying shows here. The reason could be they do not think we have the numbers to support these sorts of opportunities. By being on the board you can ask your friends and fellow barnmates to join and make our organization bigger and better. You can share their ideas as well as your own.
By joining the board you will learn skills on how to run a horse show or clinic. You will understand why gathering volunteers is difficult, yet so necessary to our sport. You will find opportunities to help young riders, find sponsorship, work on awards or communications, help improve our rules and giving out scholarships. Bring your skills and hone them in leadership positions.
You will also get to know your fellow dressage riders from different barns or different parts of our area. You will meet a lot of interesting people who will make your dressage journey richer. And you will help give dressage a voice.
